چکیده
The present study was conducted in Department of Anaesthesia, Sardar Patel Medical College and PBM Hospital, Bikaner, with the aim comparative evaluation subclavian vein catheterization by supraclavicular infraclavicular approach. There are three common routes central venous i.e. subclavian, internal jugular femoral. Hence our we have done a approach for SCV primary objective successful using anatomical landmark technique secondary first attempt success rate, time taken cannulation also record incidence complications related to either In study, 60 patients enrolled were randomly divided into two groups 30 each. Group A Infraclavicular B Supraclavicular catheterisation performed Successful catheterization, access catheter malfunction or any other complication recorded. group (IC) Maximum 63.33% inserted single whereas minimum 10% required 3 more attempts while maximum 93.33% 3.33% needed attempts, difference found statistically significant. Overall 90% 96% 93 % when combined both groups. Mean insertion observed (6.67 ± 1.44 min.) less (4.47 1.01min.) B, highly We conclude that SC is better as comparable IC terms landmarks accessibility, rate complications.

Supraclavicular versus infraclavicular subclavian vein catheterization in infants.
BACKGROUND Central venous catheterization is an important procedure for infant patients for a number of different purposes, including nutritional support, surgical operation, hemodynamic monitoring, and multiple lines for critical care medications. Subclavian vein catheterization (SVC) is one of the central vein catheterization techniques. SVC can be performed from 4 different locations: right ...
متن کاملSupraclavicular Subclavian Vein Catheterization: The Forgotten Central Line
While the supraclavicular approach to the subclavian vein has been described since 1965, it is generally employed much less often than the "traditional" infraclavicular approach. Although randomized trials are lacking, the best evidence suggests that the supraclavicular approach has a number of important advantages to the infraclavicular approach. The landmarks and relative merits of the proced...
متن کاملSubclavian Vein Catheterization
T he subclavian approach to central venous cannulation provides rapid access for fluid and blood administration, hemodynamic monitoring, pacemaker insertion, and placement of catheters for parenteral nutrition. This approach is also useful when peripheral intravenous sites are not available due to extensive burns or trauma, or simply are not present because of obesity or vein depletion from pri...
متن کاملUltrasound-Guided Subclavian Vein Cannulation in Neonate via Supraclavicular Approach
Central venous cannulation of infants may be challenging. Ultrasonography is recommended and has been found superior to classic landmark technique in pediatric central venous cannulation. The cannulation of the subclavian vein using supraclavicular approach under real-time ultrasound guidance is a novel technique. It may have advantages over ultrasound-guided jugular vein cannulation in specifi...

The safe and successful performance of a central venous catheterization (CVC) requires a specific knowledge of anatomy in addition to a working knowledge. Misunderstanding the anatomy may result in failure or complications. This review aims to aid understanding of the anatomical framework, pitfalls, and complications of CVC of the subclavian (SCV). CVC is common practice amongst surgeons, anest...
